In an effort to further implement the goals of ‘holistic education’ and the ‘Double First-Class Initiative’, and to strengthen communication between faculty and students while promoting physical well-being, the College recently held the nineth summer badminton tournament under the theme ‘Flying with Passion, Competing Together’ at the Haidian Campus badminton hall.
Jointly organised by the College Labour Union and Youth League Committee, the tournament was officially opened by Chair of the College Labour Union Union Che Hu, with an address delivered by Chair of the College Council Gu Yongqiang. Nearly 20 faculty members, graduating students, and postgraduate students participated in about 20 matches across singles, doubles, and mixed doubles categories, demonstrating remarkable skill, competitive spirit, and exceptional teamwork.

On the day of the tournament, participants entered the court full of energy. Following warm-ups and the draw, matches began in earnest, featuring intense rallies, agile footwork, powerful smashes, and determined saves. Every move on the court reflected not only the players’ athletic prowess but also their passion for the game. Adhering to the principle of ‘friendship first, competition second’, the tournament fostered camaraderie and sportsmanship alongside high-level performances.
After rounds of spirited play, the competition concluded with the following results, Gu Yongqiang won the Men’s Singles Champion, Liu Chengwei and He Qihao the Men’s Doubles Champions, Gu Yongqiang and Student Liu Dongdi the Mixed Doubles Champions, Liu Dongdi the Women’s Singles Champion and Student Feng Yuxi and Liu Dongdi the Women’s Doubles Champions.

The tournament provided a dynamic platform for badminton enthusiasts across the College to showcase their skills and deepen mutual understanding. More importantly, it reinforced cohesion and the spirit of cooperation among faculty and students. The participants’ spirited performance and perseverance vividly embodied the ideals of healthy living and active engagement. The College also extends heartfelt thanks to the student volunteers whose efforts ensured the smooth running of the event.
