College students participate in CUPL Games in Athletics

The fifteenth Games in Athletics of CUPL was grandly opened at the Changping Campus stadium on the morning of 19 April.



Bathed in sunlight and with the national flag flying high, the campus was filled with youthful energy. The student delegation from the College marched past the rostrum with high morale and resounding slogans. Chanting “with the law we discern East and West, with courage we compete high and low; mastering knowledge from China and abroad, aspiring as high as the clouds”, they showcased the vigor and ambition of a new generation of law students.


Following a solemn flag-raising ceremony, Vice President of the University Liu Yanhong delivered an opening speech. She emphasised the importance of upholding the concept of ‘health first’, encouraging all faculty and students to view physical exercise as a crucial path toward comprehensive development. Quoting the motto, “to cultivate a civilised spirit, one must first build a strong body,” she called on everyone to embrace sports, strengthen their willpower, and strive to become capable contributors to national rejuvenation. She also urged everyone to contribute to the development of a strong sporting nation and the building of China under the rule of law. Subsequently, Chair of the University Council Jiang Zeting officially announced the opening of the Games.


During the two-day competition, the College student delegation demonstrated perseverance and excellence, achieving outstanding results in various events. Year 2024 entering postgraduate student Yang Meiyu placed third in the Group B women’s shot put. Lyu Huitao finished seventh in the Group B men’s 5000-meter race. Gao Jingna secured fifth place in the Group B women’s 1500-meter event. Zhang Yaodong competed in two events, placing fourth in the Group B men’s 1500 meters and eighth in the 5000 meters.


In recognition of their outstanding sportsmanship and competitive spirit, the delegation was awarded the Sportsmanship Award of this year’s games, fully reflecting the resilient, disciplined, and honorable spirit of students from the College of Comparative Law.
